Professor Gianni Marone, MD

Professor Marone’s research focuses on the complex interactions between pro-inflammatory mediators produced by lung epithelial cells and human pulmonary mast cells and macrophages.

Professor Gianni Marone is Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy. He is also Director of the World Allergy Organization Centers of Excellence and Senior Investigator of the National Research Council.  

Professor Marone’s research focuses on the role of chemical mediators in the pathophysiology of allergic diseases, and the role of angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis in inflammatory disorders and cancer.  

He has published extensively in his field, having authored more than 900 publications and edited 20 books. Additionally, Professor Marone serves as Editor/Associate Editor for several international journals on clinical immunology and asthma. He was the President of the Italian Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (1998—2001), President of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum (2006—2010), and is currently an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London, UK) and a scholar of the Johns Hopkins Society.
