Professor Celeste Porsbjerg, MD, PhD

Professor Porsbjerg’s research interests focus on airway pathophysiology and inflammation. She aims to provide better solutions to the management of the most severely ill patients with obstructive airways disease.

Professor Celeste Porsbjerg is Professor of Severe Asthma in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at  Bispebjerg Hospital, Copenhagen, Denmark, where she heads the severe asthma clinic and chairs the Respiratory Research Unit.  

Professor Porsbjerg’s research revolves around solving key clinical issues in difficult-to-treat asthma, understanding disease mechanisms, and personalizing asthma management. Her current research focuses on airway immunoreactivity, immune drivers of asthma exacerbations, and the effect of targeted interventions.  

Professor Porsbjerg has published extensively on airway hyperresponsiveness and inflammatory mechanisms in asthma. She chairs the Danish Severe Asthma Registry and the NORDSTAR Asthma Research Consortium. She is also the national representative for Denmark in the Severe Heterogeneous Asthma Research collaboration and the patient-centered consortium, and is a member of the International Severe Asthma Registry.
